Here are some thought-provoking facts on how much plastic is consumed worldwide:
Plastic is made from natural gases and oils. The most widely used plastic, polyethylene, has an annual production of approximately 60 to 80 million metric tons!! (Wow!) To give you a bit of an idea what kind of volume we are talking about, an adult rhinoceros or elephant can weigh 1 metric ton. Imagine 1 rhinoceros…. times 60 or 80 million…. Can you picture that??
